Paloma BARJA

Paloma is a pharmacist who has worked for the biopharmaceutical industry for more than 28 year in increasing responsibility positions (from sales rep to General Manager) always at multinational companies, what has enabled her to obtain a broad business vision, a multicultural experience and a wide professional network. She has actively participated in both Global and European teams, leading the development of strategies and the implementation of international projects in Spain and Portugal. She is used to work in matrix organisations, true cross-functional environments with a patient-centric, customer-centric approach. 

In all these years, she has been involved in the different steps of the life-cycle of worldwide leading brands (pre-launch, launch and post-launch), in diverse therapeutic markets, including the cardiovascular, oncology, immune-oncology, haematology and rare disease areas. 

Paloma started as a Sales Rep, moved to Training & Development, Marketing (Jr. PM, Senior Brand Manager and Marketing Director), Market Access, Public/Governmental Affairs and Communications Senior Director. Her latest role in the industry has been as General Manager setting the Iberian affiliate of an international specialized biopharma start-up company, from scratch. 

Paloma also enjoys teaching, something she does frequently in different business schools and in the University, sharing her knowledge in Pharma marketing and sales, Market access and Public affairs topics. She is co-director of a Postgraduate in Market Access in Pharma and Medical Devices in Spain, directed to professionals of the sector. 

She is member of different health organisations, such as the Spanish Society of Health Managers (SEDISA) and the Spanish Association of Institutional Affairs’ Professionals (APRI). She is author of two chapters of the only book in Spain linked to Market Access and Public Affairs in Pharma and Medical devices. 

Currently, Paloma is a self-contractor who collaborates with Zarzia providing her expertise on projects for Iberia.
